Ali has been CEO of Progressa since its inception in 2013. Named by CB Insights to the 2018 Fintech 250, a list of the world’s top fintech startups, Progressa has invested over $5.0 million dollars in its proprietary credit score and software suite for enterprise partners looking to enhance their collections strategy in a positive way. In 2018, the Company also productionized a software solution for platform partners looking to offer point-of-sale financing solutions to credit-challenged Canadian consumers.


Under Ali’s leadership, the Company has raised over $130 million of investor capital, including a successful $84 million Pre-IPO round in 2018. The company has grown to over 120 employees in Vancouver and Toronto and surpassed $100 million of consumer loans this year.
              

Prior to co-founding Progressa, Ali worked in both corporate restructuring and audit & assurance, with the bulk of his professional career at PwC, where he managed top-tier engagements of financial firms. Born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Ali holds a Canadian Chartered Accountant degree and a BBA in Finance from Simon Fraser University. He began his professional career at a young age, co-founding a leading IT services firm with locations in Edmonton, AB and Vancouver, BC in 1998. Ali is also a regular contributor to Business in Vancouver’s weekly technology panel and was named to BIV’s Top 40 under 40 in 2017 and is the Co-Chair of the Canadian Lenders Association Advocacy & Regulatory Committee.
