Tokenization & Decentralization: What Do They Mean For Your Business?

With blockchain technology hitting the mainstream with force, more and more entrepreneurs are viewing crypto and ledger technology as a valuable and trendy angle on their visions. It’s true that blockchain technology solves previously intractable problems for in many domains, and things are now possible that were not in the past. At the same time when blockchain is used as a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail. This mis-application of the technology is further fed by the current white-hot ICO market, where it seems almost anyone with an idea and a white paper can raise tens of millions. It benefits founders, potential investors and the general public to understand what it means to apply blockchain technology to a business problem. The list of potential impacts is long and includes some critical disadvantages, including a possible need to fundamentally change the means of monetizing a business. This talk will look at what makes a business concept a good or bad fit for blockchains, tokenizing, funding via ICO and decentralization. Is your favourite ICO even suited for this technology?

The Tokenized Capital Economy: Why Regulators Have Stepped In and How They Will Accelerate Digital Assets

Blockchain tokens are a value transfer innovation sending shockwaves through the investment banking and venture funding industries. Instead of relying on traditional venture capital players, startups around the world have already accessed over $3.3B of a liquid pool of cryptocurrency in exchange for a new digital and programmable asset class. While Regulators realize this is the first sign of a transformative shift in global capital markets and non-financial industries alike, they know that the nascent digital asset industry is placing investors at high risk. This talk will focus on how regulators are balancing innovation, disruption and investor protection at the frontier of a global economy of digital assets.

Closing Keynote: The Impact of Distributed Blockchain Ecosystems and the Fintech Value Chain

Blockchain enables distributed finance and data solutions.  Combined with other fintech solutions it is highly disruptive to the finance industry as a whole. It is important to understand the whole ecosystem and impact on value chains. In the future, these new technlogies have the potential to make parts of the value chain irrelevant whle replacing new emerging solutions/roles to global value chains and ecosystems. No financial service can be totally independent.  Successful financial services will be those that work with other services and help to build new services. The development of new financial services cannot focus only on its own function, but must figue out its role, interface and add value to the ecosystem and value chain.
